Since 1422 AD · Bidar, Karnataka
The Royal Craft of Bidar
Bidriware is a Silver Metal Art called Damascening in Silver — exclusive to Bidar, Karnataka. Developed during the reign of Ahmed Shah Bahamani in 1422 AD, this craft was later celebrated by the Nizams of Hyderabad.
The magical soil found at Bidar Fort has unique oxidising properties — the base metal Zinc turns into sheer blackware, while pure Silver Inlay retains its original colour. This stunning contrast has symbolised royalty and wealth in India for 600 years.
When you own a piece of Bidriware, you own a piece of the place itself.
Since 1174 AD · Puri, Odisha
Art Born in a Temple Town
Odisha Pattachitra flourished with the construction of the Jagannath Temple at Puri in the 12th century (1174 AD). The Cult of Jagannath used Patta painting to spread faith throughout Orissa — and an unbroken tradition of 850 years was born.
Pata comes from the Sanskrit word Patta — meaning a piece of cloth. Every canvas is prepared by pasting layers of cloth with tamarind seed glue, mixed with rice powder and polished with stone. All colours are extracted from flowers, leaves, fruits and roots.
No two Pattachitra paintings are ever identical. Each one is a devotional original — made only by the Chitrakar families of Puri for over 850 years.
Since 1498 AD · Kozhikode, Kerala
The Spice That Changed the World
It was on 20th May 1498 that the Portuguese fleet first touched India at Kappakadavu — Kappad beach, in present Kozhikode district of Kerala. Thus began the epic journey of Indian spices to the world.
Malabar Black Pepper — once called Black Gold — was the very reason trade routes were sought. The Malabar coast provides a quarter of the world's pepper supply. Tellicherry Pepper from this region is considered the most complex, balanced and elegant of all black peppers on earth.
Chilli is not just A Chilli. Pepper is not just A Pepper. Every GI spice carries the unique flavour of its origin soil, climate and centuries of cultivation that cannot be replicated anywhere else.

What is a GI Tag?
A Geographical Indication (GI) Tag is a certification given by the Government of India to products that have a specific geographical origin and possess qualities, reputation, or characteristics that are essentially attributable to that place of origin.
In simple words, a GI Tag guarantees exactly where a product comes from, why that location makes it unique, and that it is authentic — not a copy or imitation.
